Job Description The Research Scientist at Luxium Solutions, LLC will play a pivotal role in advancing our innovative materials development initiative. Primary responsibilities include developing growth processes for new single crystalline materials such as Ga2O3, leading to new product sales. Supporting responsibilities include identifying, testing, and maintaining raw material stocks for the research and development group; designing experiments and conducting growth trials of crystalline materials; designing furnace modifications to aid in crystal growth and performance; tracking performance properties of grown crystals; and assisting in transitioning R&D activities to production. The ideal candidate should be familiar with semiconducting materials and crystallography, with experience or familiarity with high-temperature oxides like sapphire and garnets, and growth methods such as Czochralski, EFG, HEM, and Bridgman. Key Responsibilities: Assist in developing Ga2O3 single crystal growth processes, including planning and executing growth trials, and reporting on development progress.Support characterization of Ga2O3 crystals, whether grown internally or sourced externally, including in-house analysis and management of external analyses. Assist in defect identification, analysis, material improvement, and scale-up of EFG-grown oxides. Stay informed about technical advances in functional materials, especially for power electronics, and share relevant information with team members.Requirements Master’s Degree in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field; PhD preferred. At least 5 years of experience in ceramic materials development, including crystal growth, processing, and characterization (considering PhD and post-doctoral work, with preference for industrial experience).At least 5 years of experience with crystal growth technologies. Deep understanding of solid-state physics and/or materials science. Proficiency with software such as LabVIEW, 3D CAD SolidWorks, CREO, Inventor, etc., suitable for industrial R&D environments. Experience with MS Office, Minitab, or similar programs. Experience with defect engineering of ceramic materials and devices. Familiarity with crystal growth methods like Czochralski and EFG.
