Summary Working independently and following established policies, procedures, and study protocols, provides assistance on clinical research studies, including recruiting, evaluating, and consenting patients for studies; collecting and organizing patient data; scheduling patients for study visits; performing clinical tests such as phlebotomy, EKGs, etc.; maintaining and updating data generated by the study. Additionally, provides input into determining study subject suitability, recruitment strategies, methodology design, statistical analyses, protocol development, and manuscript preparation.Does this position require Patient Care? Summary: The Cognitive Outcomes of Geriatric Surgery (COGS) Research Group seeks a responsible, motivated, and enthusiastic Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) I. Our mission is to understand how surgery and anesthesia impact cognitive function in older adults, focusing on conditions like mild cognitive impairment and frailty, postoperative delirium, inflammation, and neurodegeneration. The team includes NIH-funded anesthesiologists, surgeons, neurologists, neuropsychologists, biomarker scientists, and statisticians. Under supervision, the CRC manages clinical studies, including patient recruitment, data collection, clinical assessments, blood sample processing, scheduling, IRB compliance, and regulatory adherence.Responsibilities: Assist with clinical research studies following protocols. Recruit and evaluate patients virtually and in clinics. Schedule and coordinate study visits. Conduct baseline and follow-up assessments. Draw and process blood samples. Assist with imaging procedures. Engage with patients in various settings.Conduct delirium screening and follow-up interviews. Manage data and prepare reports. Assist with IRB submissions and protocol amendments. Develop study materials and ensure regulatory compliance. Serve as a liaison between patients and the research team.
