Director of Taurewa (Outdoor Education Camp) Location: Avondale College, Auckland Position: Full-time, Permanent Sector: Secondary (Years 7–15) / Wharekura, Middle leadership Specialization: Health and Physical Education Salary: 2MU + 1MMA Overview An exciting leadership opportunity has arisen at Avondale College for a qualified and experienced educator to lead the Taurewa Outdoor Education Programme. With over 50 years of operation, the programme offers exceptional outdoor experiences to our diverse student body.The Taurewa Programme centers around our outdoor education camp located on the border of Tongariro National Park. The Director will manage approximately fifteen 5-day camps annually for Year 10, 12, and 13 students, based in Auckland. Role Responsibilities Lead and oversee the outdoor education programme, ensuring high standards and safety.Manage a team of staff, coordinate with outdoor activity providers, and oversee camp operations. Train and support teachers to lead camps. Manage equipment, safety protocols, and camp facilities. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in outdoor education. Candidate ProfileLikely a teaching role with significant non-contact time. Additional qualifications and experience in outdoor leadership and coaching. Strong understanding of health and safety in outdoor education. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and effective administrator.
