Electronic Product Design Engineer, Auckland

About the role As an Electronic Product Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative electronic products and embedded firmware for new products and systems within the HVAC industry. This is a full-time role based in East Tamaki, Auckland. You will work closely with the engineering and product teams to bring cutting-edge technologies to life.What you'll be doing Design and develop electronic products using microcontrollers (e.g., STM32, ESP32, PIC, MSP) and communication protocols (e.g., UART, SPI, I2C, MODBUS). Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define product requirements and specifications. Prototype and test new designs to ensure functionality, reliability, and manufacturability.Troubleshoot and debug hardware and software issues. Optimise designs for cost, power consumption, and performance. Document design processes and maintain accurate technical records. Support the production and manufacturing of designed products. What we're looking for Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field.5 plus years proven experience in electronic product design, with a focus on embedded systems and microcontrollers. Proficiency in schematic capture, PCB design (Altium Designer), and firmware development using C/C++. Thorough knowledge and experience of Heating and Ventilation market and technologies.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience with design for manufacturing and transitioning designs into volume production. Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and best practices, especially AS/NZS standards.Excellent communication and documentation skills.
