While other companies talk about it, we do it! NEUTRON Neutron is Rocket Lab’s new, medium-lift, reusable launch vehicle currently in development. The Neutron GNC team is responsible for the entire GNC lifecycle of the vehicle from the R&D phase through to mission-specific support beyond Neutron's first flight. This work broadly falls into two categories: i) Algorithm Development; and ii) Mission Design&Performance. We are seeking a Lead GNC Engineer to play a principal role in Neutron's Mission Design&Performance projects. This role is primarily technical, but with a strong dimension of day-to-day work prioritisation, organisation and stakeholder communication, ultimately enabling team output. WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO: Trajectory optimization/design Orbital optimization/design (including manoeuvres, ground station contacts, observation passes)Analysis and missionisation of optimised 3DOF trajectories for implementation in 6DOF and flight scenarios Monte-Carlo, pre-flight, launch-day and post-flight analysis YOU'LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree or higher in Aerospace, Mechatronics or related discipline (or equivalent qualification/experience)A thorough fundamental understanding of 3DOF rocket dynamics A thorough fundamental understanding of orbital mechanics Experience with optimization for launch-vehicle or spacecraft missions THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE: Experience with GMAT, STK, ASTOS Experience with software development in Python or MATLABExperience with software CI pipelines Experience in development/implementation of a basic 3DOF propagator for LEO, lunar, or interplanetary trajectories from fundamental equations of motion If the above sounds like you apply now!
