Capsule Journalist/Content Creator - Contractor Position Are you a pop culture junkie? Do you know what’s trending right now? Are you just as comfortable interviewing Kiwi women about their mental health as you are writing a think piece on Taylor Swift or the pay gap? Capsule – NZ’s fastest growing online women’s lifestyle brand – is looking for a motivated self-starter to join our team on a contract basis as a writer/content creator.You’ll have a nose for a good story – whether that’s told in words or by video – and have an instinctive understanding of news value; the needs of our audience and our warm, irreverent and relatable tone. You’ll be excited by the idea of creating content for both our website and social platforms.We’re looking for someone who can write about a broad range of topics for Capsule ’s engaged and loyal readership: anything from what’s trending online, in fashion, beauty, lifestyle and travel through to more gritty human interest features. You’ll be responsible for generating story ideas,as well as writing to briefs, uploading content and optimizing it for SEO, plus creating content for our social media feeds.This is a part-time contractor position, working from home (preferably in Auckland, but not essential) for three days a week (hours and days are flexible). Job duties and responsibilities: Write stories across a breadth of subjects, including lifestyle, travel, and human interest.Contribute ideas for both editorial and commercial content. Create considered and on-brand content for Capsule’s social media platforms. Upload content to WordPress, optimizing it for SEO. Formulate, shoot, and edit video content for new and existing stories for both web and social media. Assist with partner content as needed.The ideal candidate’s attributes could include: Journalism qualification/experience is preferred, but not essential. Demonstrated ability in digital content creation. Proficiency in Canva, WordPress, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro is preferred, but not essential. Creative and inquisitive. Self-motivated, independent, and dedicated.Enthusiastic and passionate about telling stories. Warm, positive, and professional attitude. Great attention to detail.
