GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT: The Medical Chronobiology Program investigates the mechanisms underlying the daily variation in disease severity, the consequences of circadian disturbances, such as in night shift work, and the role of meal timing and genetics in cardiometabolic function and disease.Working under the supervision of a Research Manager or Principal Investigator and following established policies and procedures, provides assistance on clinical research studies. Responsibilities include recruiting and evaluating subjects, collecting, organizing, and analyzing data, scheduling study visits, and maintaining study data, often during day/evening/night/weekend shifts.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist with clinical research studies as per protocols, including various shifts. Recruit and evaluate subjects, post advertisements, conduct interviews, schedule visits, and perform clinical tests (e.g., EKG, blood pressure, Hip-Waist ratio). Interact with patients for education, instructions, and follow-up.Collect, input, analyze data, and maintain records. Mail study information to participants. Answer inquiries and refer participants as needed. Set up and monitor equipment for protocols. Perform measurements using specific equipment and assays, such as blood pressure, metabolic rate, glucose tolerance, and food intake tracking.Ensure professionalism and respect for participant rights. Collaborate with hospital personnel to execute protocols. Monitor supplies and equipment. Assist with protocol documentation, IRB submissions, SOPs, reports, grants, and manuscripts. Coordinate in-lab visits, including staffing and scheduling.Maintain and organize freezer storage. Coordinate meetings and journal clubs. Maintain equipment and liaise with vendors. Arrange sample shipments. Perform other duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS: BA/BS degree required; health sciences, biology, neuroscience, or psychology preferred. Interest in scientific research or patient care preferred.Flexibility for variable work hours, including nights and weekends. SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES: Good organizational and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with Windows computers and willingness to learn new skills. Ability to work cooperatively and maintain positive relationships. Teamwork, initiative, sound judgment, and adaptability.Efficient time management and ability to follow directions with minimal supervision. WORKING CONDITIONS: Night, overnight, and weekend shifts required. Busy lab environment with potential for physical activity and biological specimen contact.
