Through integration and collaboration, we’re building a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whānau-centred care, and excellence.About the Role Working as a Neurology Registrar Neurology encompasses the science, investigation, and treatment of all inherited and acquired diseases affecting the nervous and neuromuscular systems. Working in neurology, you will deal with disorders ranging from diseases of muscle to disorders of cognitive function and behaviour, using clinical tools from bedside assessment to electrophysiology, molecular biology, and functional neuroimaging. There are X positions accredited for advanced trainees in neurology and X positions for trainees in other advanced training programs or basic trainees. Advanced trainees in neurology are expected to attend subspecialty clinics, including neurophysiology. For more information, visit the Australian and New Zealand Association of Neurologists (ANZAN) website.The six-month rotation includes working in an inpatient neurology unit, an acute stroke unit, and supervised outpatient clinics. You will be responsible for the initial assessment of patients presenting with acute neurological problems. After hours, registrars participate in a 1 in 6 call roster and may cover other medical subspecialties. Registrars are also involved in teaching and supervising medical students and house officers. About You Advanced Training in Neurology (12-month position)– Applications must be submitted directly to ANZANYou must have passed the FRACP written exam or be registered to sit the clinical exam in 2025. Positions are only available to those who have passed the clinical exam and completed basic training. If you are completing the exam later this year and do not pass, you will no longer be eligible for advanced training but may be considered for a run allocation.You must be eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
