You'll be part of an organisation that values collaboration, innovation, and leadership in tackling some of the most pressing environmental challenges in the region.About the Job This is a pivotal senior role that combines strategic vision with operational oversight in a dynamic and rewarding environment. As the Group Manager - Catchment Management, you will lead a highly skilled team responsible for managing natural hazards including flood risk, coastal erosion, and seismic threats. Your focus will be on strategic planning, risk mitigation, infrastructure development, and stakeholder engagement to protect and enhance the region's natural environment and community resilience.Key responsibilities include: Leading the region's long-term strategy for natural hazard management. Overseeing design, delivery, and maintenance of key flood and coastal protection infrastructure. Managing major infrastructure and civil projects, including procurement and contracts. Driving best-practice asset management and risk mitigation across river and coastal systems.Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with stakeholders, iwi, contractors, and other government bodies. Providing leadership during emergency events in collaboration with Civil Defence. Supporting strategic direction, budgeting, and performance alongside the CEO and executive leadership team.About You You are a strategic leader with proven experience in civil/environmental engineering and natural hazard management. You're equally comfortable leading a high-performing team and rolling up your sleeves when needed. You value stakeholder relationships and thrive in a role where your decisions have a tangible impact on people and the environment.You will bring: A degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or equivalent). Significant leadership experience in natural hazard mitigation or related infrastructure projects. A strong track record in contract management, risk assessment, and asset lifecycle planning. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with a diverse range of stakeholders.Financial literacy and experience managing significant budgets and resources.
