Description
The Maintenance Senior Technician is a shop hourly position with primary responsibilities of troubleshooting and repairing plant equipment. They are also required to perform preventative maintenance tasks on equipment. As an experienced mechanic, the Senior Technician has a high level of proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical systems and is competent working independently in most functions. He is also expected to lead and train junior technicians as assigned. The purpose of every position at BAC, regardless of department or level, can be summarized as doing the right thing in the right way.PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Owns personal and team safety. Observes all safety rules and always uses the proper safety equipment. Continuously develops skills and expertise to provide flexibility in working on both production and facility equipment. Committed to achieving departmental safety goals.Ensures activities promote sustainability by reducing environmental impact, minimizing waste, maximizing recycling, and conserving energy and water. Supports a culture of innovation by thinking creatively to improve processes and equipment. Maintains and sustains 5S practices in the department. Works independently to address mechanical and electrical troubleshooting needs and completes open work orders.Performs preventive maintenance on all major plant equipment. Performs mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, breakdown repairs, lubrication, and line changeovers. Understands and repairs hydraulic and pneumatic systems, power transmission components (e.g., screws, belts, vibrators, gearboxes, chains, sheaves, cylinders).Understands and repairs pumps, compressors, piping systems, etc. Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, and equipment drawings. Traces wiring and diagnoses control issues. Documents processes, procedures, and after-action reports effectively. Leads junior technicians as assigned. Trains junior mechanics in repair and troubleshooting of production equipment.Performs other tasks as directed by the supervisor. Collaborates with OEMs and across departments to improve equipment uptime. NATURE&SCOPE Reports to the Maintenance Supervisor or a senior Technician as assigned. KNOWLEDGE&SKILLS Experience troubleshooting Allen Bradley 5 or 500 PLCs and drives is a plus but not required. Strong documentation and communication skills, both written and oral. Proficient in math, electrical troubleshooting, reading blueprints, and reference drawings. Flexible and adaptable to change.Knowledge of LEAN principles, 5S, and continuous improvement techniques. Competent in welding, milling, lathe work, and safe operation of power tools and man lifts. Familiar with safety procedures and policies related to the role. Proficient in using LAN, CMMS, and other databases for instructions and documentation.WORKING CONDITIONS The physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs, standing up to 80% of the time, and performing activities like walking, reaching, bending, and stooping. Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination are necessary. Exposure to noise, temperature fluctuations, and outdoor weather conditions is typical.
