Our people are the heart of Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei.Our goal is for whānau to be loved and nurtured, strong and happy, stand tall and proud, confident, and enjoy life in comfort, companionship, and inclusion.Te Whiwhinga Mahi | The opportunity We are seeking a full-time (40 hours per week) Fitness Trainer to work at our Takatū Gym, creating tailored fitness and wellbeing plans for whānau and community members. Your responsibilities will include evaluating whānau/kaimahi fitness levels, developing holistic exercise programs, explaining proper gym equipment use, and monitoring progress.Reporting to the Pou Manawa and working within Toi Ora (Health Services), you will advise on nutritional and lifestyle changes, refer clients to other services as needed, lead group and outdoor training sessions, and maintain gym equipment. The role requires staying updated with new exercise techniques and trends to enhance outcomes for whānau and kaimahi.Start date: 1 June 2025 Ngā tino pūkenga/whēako | Qualifications&Experience A minimum of Certificate III in Fitness (Group Fitness). Current First Aid Certificate. Fitness Registration (desirable). Previous experience as a fitness trainer or in a similar role. Knowledge of various fitness programs, including strength and conditioning, boxing, and circuit training.Experience motivating and guiding whānau and clients. Teamwork experience. Knowledge of matauranga Māori and its application in the work environment. Ability to build relationships and manage confidential client records.
