Cowater further counts on a dynamic and diverse team of professionals committed to designing and implementing projects that deliver lasting results for the clients and countries with whom it works.SUMMARY OF THE POSITION The Senior Business Development Manager will contribute to Cowater’s business development through proposal drafting, opportunity development, and strategic analysis. As a business development leader and professional, they will have an excellent understanding of opportunity pursuit and development and a strong technical acumen in relevant areas. This individual will be a senior contributor, identifying, developing and pursuing opportunities. As needed, they will work collaboratively with other Cowater offices/business units.A successful candidate will have significant business development experience with the Asian Development Bank while experience with World Bank and New Zealand (MFAT) proposals will be considered an asset. The Senior Business Development Manager will report directly to the New Zealand Country Manager.KEY RESPONSIBLITIES Business Development: Leading and managing the development of Expressions of Interest and Proposals, including assembling and managing bid teams, developing proposal planners, technical writing, organising bid check-ins and issues sessions, monitoring proposal progress and deadlines, as well as quality assurance to ensure full compliance and integration of donor requirements, priorities, strategies.Carrying out pre-positioning work including market intelligence (donors, competitors, partners), Tailoring project references, drafting expert CVs and completing compliance documents. Proposal writing including writing bid sections, technical themes, clear messages, methodology/approach, win themes and providing timely and constructive feedback to ensure high quality written proposals.Developing budgets and commercial strategies for proposals. Overseeing expert recruitment and engagement, including negotiating commercial terms. Identifying and engaging with partners as needed, including coming to commercial arrangements. Leading and/or supporting scoping missions as required for proposals including leveraging in-country program teams and local partnerships to develop proposals.Performing quality control on all the final technical and financial proposals. Communicating with clients and stakeholders and representing Cowater. Establishing and developing good relations with partners and experts. Conduct market research and analysis to stay abreast of industry trends and opportunities.KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE A demonstrable track record of leading and winning competitive tenders for international development projects. Business development experience across as range of sectors and countries/geographies. Strong interpersonal and team-working skills– an ability to build and maintain strong relationships based on trust and mutual respect with clients, counterparts, sub-contractors, and team members.Excellent English verbal and written communication skills (reports, presentations, etc.). Ability to work in a fast-paced, flexible and team-focused work environment. Established networks in SE Asia or the Pacific region Specialist knowledge in a technical area relevant to Cowater (Gender, Equality, Disability and Inclusion; Human Development; Climate Change; Renewable Energy, WASH, Monitoring&Evaluation and others) and ability to technically lead proposal writing.
