Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior SolidWorks Designer with over 5 years of experience in architectural metalwork and steel fabrication. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing precise 3D models and fabrication drawings, ensuring designs align with project specifications and fabrication capabilities.Key Responsibilities: *Develop accurate 3D models and detailed fabrication drawings using SolidWorks, focusing on manufacturability and structural integrity. Interpret architectural and structural drawings to create bespoke metalwork and steel fabrication designs. Prepare General Arrangement (GA) drawings, part drawings, assembly drawings, and installation layouts for client approval and workshop use.Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and workshop personnel throughout the design and production process. Conduct design reviews and implement value-engineering solutions to enhance cost-efficiency and production flow. Perform site visits and surveys as required to verify conditions and obtain accurate measurements.Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of all drawing packages. Maintain drawing registers, revision control, and technical documentation in accordance with company standards. Requirements: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a design role within architectural metalwork or secondary/structural steel fabrication.Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks, including experience with weldments, sheet metal, and configurations. Excellent understanding of steel and metal fabrication processes and workshop practices. Ability to read and interpret complex architectural and structural drawings. Familiarity with industry standards, including New Zealand Building Codes and relevant regulations.Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team. Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities. Capability to work independently and manage workload effectively. Knowledge of Revit or BIM workflows.
