This is a leadership role where you will use your exceptional strategic and influencing skills at the most senior levels of the organisation.In this role, you will work closely with our organisation’s Chief Executive and senior leaders to advise and deliver effective communication to our 7000+ staff and communicate the vision, strategies and plans of the council to our people in an engaging and proactive manner. You will also work with colleagues and your team to lead and deliver an internal communications strategy that prioritizes our diverse workforce.Day-to-day, your responsibilities may include: Providing strategic internal communications advice and support at the highest levels of the organisation Managing all organisation-wide communications, including employee communications for the Chief Executive Developing and implementing an internal communications strategy and planManaging the development, measurement, and improvement of all internal communication channels Offering calm and clear advice during crises Anticipating internal communication risks and mitigating them effectively About You This role requires 10+ years of management or senior-level communication experience within large, diverse, and complex organisations. Experience in local government, NGOs, or public sector organisations with internal communications or related disciplines is preferred but not essential.We are looking for candidates with: Strategic thinking and influencing skills Problem-solving, crisis communication, reputation, and risk management abilities Experience in developing and delivering internal communications strategies and plans Ability to foster strong, trusted, and collaborative relationships at a senior levelLeadership, coaching, mentoring, and team development skills You should demonstrate strong self-awareness, resilience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
