Ko Taku Reo - Deaf Education New Zealand Auckland Resource Teacher of the Deaf - Central Auckland Full time, Permanent Area / composite (Years 1–15), Resource teacher Subjects: English, Health and Physical Education, Learning Languages, Mathematics and Statistics, Science, Social Sciences, Technology, Te Reo Māori, The ArtsSDA - Other allowances related to the special nature of our school We are seeking an engaging, innovative person who has strong communication skills and is a collaborative team player, as these skills are essential in all aspects of the role. The role requires travel to mainstream schools, Kura Kaupapa Māori/Māori Early Childhood/Kohanga Reo, to work closely with DHH students, whānau, and school staff/teams, supporting learners in both English and Te Reo Māori. This is a permanent, full-time position based in Kelston.You will engage with your assigned caseload, maintain related records, and liaise with families and whānau to support student participation and success in education and life outcomes. Proven experience working with Deaf children and/or mainstream children is required. Qualified Teacher of the Deaf or an experienced NZ-registered teacher.Use of own car with mileage reimbursed (conditions apply). Depending on weekly mileage, a lease car may be provided for work travel. Must reside within easy access to the region and be willing to travel within the caseload area. Existing skills or willingness to develop proficiency in New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) and listening and spoken language practices for DHH learners.Only applicants legally entitled to work in New Zealand will be considered.
