About the Role Our Cardiothoracic Surgical Unit (CTSU) at Auckland City Hospital is the highest volume unit in New Zealand and Australasia. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join our dedicated team of Medical, Nursing, and Allied Health Professionals. The ability to cover the full range of emergency surgery is essential due to the high volume of emergency cases for the on-call surgeon.We provide tertiary care primarily for Auckland and the Northern region, as well as care for high-risk patients from across New Zealand. The unit is a high-volume service working alongside a dedicated 26-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, performing approximately 1200 cardiac surgeries annually.Auckland's vibrant culture, cuisine, coastal scenery, and events make it a fantastic place to live. You will have or be eligible for vocational registration with the NZ Medical Council in Cardiothoracic Surgery and ideally be a member of The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
