The opportunity - Te tūranga The Integration Engineering Lead plays a pivotal role at TVNZ by leading the successful delivery and ongoing evolution of the Integration Platform. This role ensures seamless, scalable, and secure connectivity between systems across hybrid environments, including on-premises, cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), and third-party SaaS platforms.You will drive the implementation of robust integration solutions that support content production, delivery, analytics, and business operations—laying the foundation for future-ready digital capabilities. By guiding a team of integration developers, you will bring engineering leadership, hands-on technical expertise, and a strong understanding of modern integration patterns, ensuring solutions are performant, reusable, and aligned with enterprise architecture principles.In addition to shaping integration strategy and standards, you will be instrumental in the migration of legacy and iPaaS-based integrations to a modern AWS-native platform, ensuring reliability, maintainability, and continuous improvement across the integration ecosystem. This role is vital to supporting both programme delivery and the long-term business-as-usual integration needs across TVNZThis role demands strong technical expertise in AWS, Python/NodeJS, and integration technologies/patterns, coupled with leadership skills to mentor and guide the team as needed. In this role your focus will be on Lead the end-to-end technical implementation of services on the TVNZ Integration platform, ensuring build quality, reusability, and alignment with enterprise standardsAct as the key engineering point of contact for the Integration platform, providing hands-on leadership across integration delivery and issue resolution Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the team of integration developers, fostering best practices and continuous improvement Collaborate with the Integration Architect and Architecture Practice to translate architectural standards into actionable implementation plans, and contribute technical input into architecture and technology decisionsDefine and enforce integration development standards and frameworks, ensuring consistency, modularity, and maintainability across all integration solutions Oversee the migration of legacy integrations to the new Integration platform, delivering against a clearly defined roadmap and contributing to the future-state integration landscapeManage the day-to-day operational health of integrations, including incident response, monitoring, change management, and maintaining high-availability service operations Work closely with business stakeholders to understand integration needs, prioritise delivery, and ensure solutions meet business objectives and operational requirementsProven experience in leading and managing technical implementations Strong hands on expertise in designing and developing integration solutions using Python/NodeJS and AWS services (e.g., Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, SQS/SNS). Familiarity with industry best practices for coding, such as SOLID principles and Object-Oriented programming. Establish coding standards and practices.Guide team to use unit testing frameworks like pytest or Jest. Ready to code as needed for POCs or complex code. Experience with TDD and BDD driven development. Ability to participate in key design discussions on integration development, enhancements, and migration aspects. Experience in building and maintaining RESTful APIs and microservices to support system integrations.Knowledge of event-driven architectures and data streaming tools (e.g., EventBridge, Kafka, SNS). Knowledge of Integration patterns - Pros/Cons - how to choose a certain pattern Ability to work with peer developers, designers, and architects to ensure integration requirements and performance goals are met.Experience in developing Infrastructure as Code using tools like AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform. Proficiency in implementing containerization solutions (Docker, ECS/EKS) to improve application deployment and orchestration processes. Strong understanding of security coding practices to ensure integration is free of common coding vulnerabilities.Experience in conducting integration code reviews and informing the technology architect and project manager of any issues. Ability to implement CI/CD pipelines for integration deployments. Skills in monitoring, prod support and optimizing integration performance, logging, and error handling.
