Our Transport team in Auckland is looking for an Associate Director – Design Manager to lead high-profile, multidisciplinary projects. You’ll be part of a supportive, collaborative team with a strong pipeline of exciting projects—ranging from small to large scale—plus a range of benefits designed to suit your lifestyle.The Role As a Design Lead, you’ll lead the design delivery of major projects across New Zealand. You’ll coordinate multidisciplinary teams, oversee technical quality, and support the Project Manager in ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. A key part of the role is managing stakeholder relationships andensuring robust engineering outcomes.What will a day in this role look like: Lead and manage engineering and design teams Oversee resourcing for specialist inputs and ensure timely delivery Coordinate utilities, drawings, mapping, and cost estimation Verify engineering processes and outputs Monitor scope, budget, and timelinesCollaborate with technical leads and the wider project team Proactively manage risk and report to the Lead Engineering Advisor Run weekly engineering team meetings Capture and report lessons learned Contribute to client relationship building, bid development, and team strategy Beyond project delivery, you’ll have opportunities to support business growth through client engagement, bid development, and shaping short- and long-term strategies for the transport team.Qualifications The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes you could still be a perfect fit for this role. Proven minimum 10 years’ experience Ability to manage resources across multiple work streams.Experience delivering projects with a high level of public visibility and interest.
