Community Support Worker - Auckland

At Spectrum Care, we provide support for adults with intellectual and/or physical disabilities to live great lives. Join our team at Mana Lane House where you will be caring for 3- 4 males between the ages of 20 - 35. These guys are quite active and they love walking, water activities and outdoor physical pursuits. They enjoy their tech time and movies on those rainy days indoors. Whilst they have intellectual disabilities, they are mobile but, require some support with balance, personal cares including showers and dressing, and overseeing meal times.Skills&Experience Empathy for the challenges of trying to build an ordinary life while living with a disability Energy to keep up with someone who likes to be on the go a lot Ability to remain calm, and calming, in all situations Resilience to help people keep boundaries to ensure their safety Good at explaining and negotiatingAbility to communicate effectively and supportively with family, colleagues and the person you support Ability and willingness to provide support and motivation with personal cares and daily living skills The ideal candidate will have: An interest in attaining a Community Support Worker Level Three or above qualification- we can support you to achieve this while you workExperience supporting people with disabilities, and or mental health issues, and/or behaviours that can be challenging is desirable but not necessary Reliability, commitment, and passion for working with people A full New Zealand driver's licence Able to pass a NZ police check The ability to use a computer effectively, including programs such as Word, Internet Explorer, and emailApply now if you have a passion for working with people and want to make a difference !
