The NZ Merchant Acquisition lead is a key individual contributor role focused on expanding acceptance by converting NZ merchants that currently do not accept Amex. Our mission is to deliver sustainable, profitable growth by closing acceptance gaps, supporting a healthy network, and enhancing coverage. This role involves identifying emerging prospects, supporting inbound leads, and working from a targeted list of priority prospects. It offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced BD professional to excel in a supportive, collaborative, environment.This position suits a driven sales professional passionate about achieving positive commercial outcomes and making an impact. As an individual contributor, you should be a self-starter, skilled in driving results through warm leads and first contact approaches. How will you make an impact in this role?Conduct detailed research to understand a merchant’s business, industry, financial background&performance, key partners, and previous interactions with Amex. Develop innovative card acceptance commercial proposals. Create a clear contact&signing strategy, including key external stakeholders, prioritizing short, medium, and long-term opportunities. Collaborate closely with multiple Amex stakeholders. Articulate sales propositions effectively to strategic prospects and prepare tailored, professional, and compelling sales decks.Manage your pipeline actively, focusing on deal progression and momentum through all sales stages. Oversee onboarding processes, including customer due diligence, KYC, and AML. Minimum Qualifications Proven track record of exceeding sales targets in a corporate environment. Experience selling B2C and B2B payment solutions.Face-to-face commercial sales experience, preferably in financial services. Ability to navigate organizations and influence multiple stakeholders. Experience in data-driven self-generation strategies. Proven ability to sell to C-suite executives in corporate settings. Strong commercial acumen and P&L understanding. Experience in contract negotiation, including financial incentives. Excellent presentation skills. Strong rapport-building and networking skills. Understanding of risk factors in commercial deal negotiations.
