Key responsibilities include: Maintenance of amenity gardens (including turf, structures, and hard landscaped areas) using a variety of plants and equipment.Supervising and, when required, training staff, temporary workers, and volunteers—supporting the development of a skilled and professional team. Liaising with visitors, friends, local user groups, iwi, stakeholders, and commercial users to establish and maintain positive relationships. Conserving plants relevant to the portfolio in collaboration with the Botanical Records&Conservation Specialist. Ensuring appropriate plant introductions are made, and all plants are accurately labelled, maintaining high standards of service and performance. Position details: This role has a remuneration range of $66,000 - $72,000 depending on experience and skillset. The position description can be found here .You should bring proven experience from similar roles within large, complex, and potentially politically influenced organizations, demonstrating your ability to navigate diverse stakeholder needs while delivering high-quality horticultural outcomes. We’re looking for a passionate horticultural professional who is willing to get their hands dirty regardless of the weather.Key requirements: Level 4 qualification in horticulture or landscape construction At least 3 years of experience in amenity horticulture or landscape construction, preferably in Botanic Gardens GrowSafe certification A current, valid, and full driver’s license The ability to think strategically while maintaining a customer-focused approachWe encourage applications even if you do not meet all the requirements.
