County Durham&Darlington NHS Foundation Trust Physio Inpatient Rehab The closing date is 23 May 2025 We are looking to recruit a band 6 physiotherapist on afixed term basis (9 months secondment). This is an exciting opportunity to joinour established Rehabilitation Team at Bishop Auckland Hospital. The successfulapplicant will work within a strong team and provide effective, evidence basedand often complex therapy to frail elderly patients within a supportivemultidisciplinary team environment.There will be a variety of neurological, orthopaedic andfrailty related presentations with varying levels of therapy needs. You willwork as an autonomous practitioner and as part of the wider MDT to delegate andprioritise the caseload. Your development will be supported by the inpatientleads. The post holder will be responsible for supervising band 5physiotherapists, band 3 physiotherapyassistants and students.The role requires a dynamic physiotherapist whois able to work with the complex rehab multidisciplinary team to provideexemplary care to the patient. The successful applicant will utilise theiroutstanding organisation and communication skills to support with therehabilitation and discharge planning of patients.Main duties of the job Perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment andinterventions of patients with diverse frailty related problems and sometimeshighly complex presentations. Provide timely goals with clinical reasoning and developtreatment plans, deliver individualised evidence based treatment programmes andassist in discharge planning.Undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomouspractitioner. Hold responsibility for own caseload and be responsible fora defined area of the service or a particular patient type, working withoutdirect supervision. Supervision takes the form of regular informal training andclinical reasoning sessions, peer review, case conferences. Access to advice and support from a moresenior physiotherapist is available as required.Provide clinical supervision and education to thephysiotherapy team and wider MDT. This would include regular formal andinformal training and clinical reasoning sessions as well as doing appraisalswhen required. Take on delegated responsibility from the band 7 clinicalphysiotherapist and team lead physiotherapist.Participate in the weekend and bank holidayrota. To evaluate patient progress, re-assess and alter treatmentprograms if required.To undertake the assessment and treatment of acutely illpatients with respiratory problems as required, who may have a complex/highlycomplex presentation (which may be life threatening), and maintain associatedrecords as an autonomous practitioner. To provide advice to medical and nursing staff and othermembers of MDT, regarding patients within the specialism.To contribute towards the provision of flexible and timelyservices this will include working across a seven-day week across sites asservice requires. To be responsible for the timely and accurate recording ofpatient care in accordance with service policy, professional standards andlegal requirements.To manage clinical risk within own patient case-load. To contribute to and ensure adequate data is collatedregarding service activity. To liaise and communicate with all members of themultidisciplinary team and outside agencies when appropriate. To represent physiotherapy service and/ orindividual patients at the multidisciplinary team meeting.To be responsible for the safe and competent use of allelectrotherapy, medical devices, patient equipment and aids used by patients. To carry out assessment and treatment of patients withmoderate physical effort on a daily basis. To maintain own clinical professional development (CPD) bykeeping abreast of any new trends and developments, and incorporate them asnecessary into your work.To be an active member of the in-service training programmeby attendance at or participation in the provision of in-service trainingprogrammes, presentations and training sessions, staff meetings, tutorials,training sessions in house and by attending external courses and practisingreflective practice.To communicate effectively and work collaboratively withmedical, nursing and therapy colleagues to ensure delivery of a co-ordinatedmulti-disciplinary service. To participate in the staff appraisal scheme and PersonalDevelopment Plan (PDP) as both appraiser and appraisee.
