About the role: We are seeking a senior Java developer with experience in the capital markets domain and broad exposure to financial markets to join our Treasury and Trading team. You will be working on complex technical tasks related to the Calypso platform and its applications in finance.The ideal candidate will be a Java expert and have deep technical understanding of Calypso (or similar e.g. Murex) and experience in developing these in an enterprise environment. This role sits in our technical team but involves working closely with the Global Markets, Treasury, Finance and Market Risk teams to support the various financial operations of ASB.Key Responsibilities: Technical expertise in Java, Calypso and related systems Design and development using Java, Spring and technologies related to the Calypso platform Design and code integrations with other systems in the bank and 3rd-party apps Play a key role in regular platform upgrades and customisations using Calypso APIsBe involved in the full SDLC - from requirements gathering, technical analysis&design, estimation, development, to unit and functional testing and deployment to production Drive automation in our dev process - CICD pipelines, automated testing, env refreshes, etc. Contribute to dev and test activities for other T&T applications Lead and contribute to development of standards and development best practices Lead and participate in the squad's BAU and production support by taking ownership of support issues, working on root cause analysis and communicating resolutions constructively Work with variety of stakeholders (BAs, testers, business users and vendors)Ensure all changes meet ASB's quality, security and control requirements. Leadership Lead technical design and development activities and provide technical expertise to squad Mentor team members, foster a learning environment that encourages knowledge sharing and professional growth Lead and support improvement initiatives to streamline development and team processesKnowledge and Collaboration Collaborate with stakeholders to analyse, verify and refine requirements and deliver effective solutions that meet business needs. Work closely with CXO and other team members to help groom and prioritise the backlogs, shape and prepare work for the team and ensure alignment to the squad's development workflowShare relevant insights/developments in the technical domain with the squad Support and contribute to our agile ways of working Cultivate a positive tribe culture, aimed at innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement About you: We'll value your technical expertise in Java and your understanding of financial markets, your proven initiative, problem solving abilities and leadership skills as we look for every engineer to lead from their position.We are looking for an individual that will take ownership of our technical solutions, drive continuous change for the squad and customers to ensure we are delivering the best outcomes possible. You will work collaboratively with our squads and stakeholders to be the voice of engineering and deliver products that delight our customers.We are looking for someone who has: Extensive Java development experience (5+ years) in supporting financial market products on Calypso (or similar platform), Spring, SpringBoot Relevant capital markets domain experience (front-, middle- or back-office) Experience with implementing security concepts (IAM)Excellent SQL and database skills (Oracle) Solid experience in all manner of testing (unit, integration, API testing) Experience in implementing CICD using ADO, Github Enterprise, Octopus or Jenkins (Gradle) Good understanding of observability concepts (logging, monitoring, ELK stack) Experience in supporting apps in a production environmentExcellent communication skills, proactive, fast learner In addition, the following would be an advantage: Functional or BA experience, working with customers, requirements gathering Calypso Testing Tool (CATT) experience C#, .Net, VB - we support a handful of Microsoft apps Linux knowledge and scripting experienceAbout ASB: ASB's sense of who we are and what we stand for is grounded in our values.
