The Inpatient Unit covers a variety of medical and surgical specialties, and you will be working on a roster with rotating shifts: AM (06:45 - 15:15), PM (14:30 - 23:00), generally from Monday to Sunday.As a Health Care Assistant, you will be part of our dedicated nursing environment with full support. Your role is to work within the team to assist nursing staff in care delivery, basic patient observations, some clinical tests and monitoring, and other tasks as directed by the Registered Nurse. About the Team/LocationWe practice a collaborative patient partnership model of care to achieve the best outcomes for our patients, families, and whānau. The Wairau Hospital Inpatient Unit provides dedicated care to patients across Medical, Surgical, and AT&R specialties. The team works closely together to ensure patients receive the highest standard of care in a compassionate and patient-centered manner. Good information technology (IT) skills (especially with MS Excel and Word) and excellent organizational and communication skills. You will also have the ability to work in a flexible and methodical manner, demonstrating honesty and reliability, and will be adaptable to change, using appropriate initiative and responding flexibly to service needs.Experience within the health sector is preferred but not essential, as full training will be provided. NZQA Level 3: New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing - Health Assistance Strand, if not previously obtained , is to be commenced once orientations have been attended .
