Āu Mahi | What You Will Do We're seeking a hands-on and highly skilled Mechanical Technician to support teaching and research in the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering. Your role involves applying your trade knowledge to design, build, maintain, and modify equipment used in labs, workshops, and industry. Whether fabricating apparatus, guiding students, maintaining equipment, or assisting in courses, your expertise is vital. If you enjoy technicalproblem-solving, working with diverse materials and machinery, and supporting future engineers in a collaborative environment — we'd love to hear from you!Mōu | Who You Are Skills You should have at least 7+ years of relevant trade experience in complex environments, including technical design skills, and have: Advanced trade skills (e.g., Fitting and Turning, Toolmaking, Machining) Ability to machine and weld various materials to precise tolerancesHigh-quality fabricating skills (e.g., woodworking, pipework, assembly) Proficiency in welding metals (Arc, Mig, Tig, Spot, Oxy-acetylene) Experience maintaining laboratory, workshop, and teaching equipment A current full Driver's License (NZ, manual transmission) Trade Certification at NZQA Level 4 or equivalentAlignment with our values and a positive, inclusive work approach Mahi Ngātahi | Who You Will Work With The Department of Chemical and Process Engineering aims to improve the world through better production and manufacturing.
