Special Education Teacher ELA and/or Reading-Bonus Eligible, Christchurch

This position is eligible for a $5000 sign-on bonus! Clifford Academy, part of the Home for Little Wanderers, is seeking an on-site SPED certified teacher with a background in ELA. Certified reading specialists are encouraged to apply. Full-time applicants are preferred, but part-time or modified schedules will be considered. The role involves collaborating with the current ELA educator to support literacy development among students. Ideal candidates are flexible in co-teaching and working independently with students.Under the Principal's supervision, responsibilities include implementing individualized educational programs for students with special needs, managing classroom behavior and crisis activities, participating in multidisciplinary treatment teams, and preparing reports such as Individual Education Plans (IEPs).Key Responsibilities Assist in planning and executing IEPs, including curriculum development and lesson planning aligned with agency guidelines. Gather educational resources and provide tailored instruction to students with diverse academic levels. Implement behavioral management strategies, including crisis intervention and restraint procedures when necessary, and model social and emotional skills.Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, share student progress, and collaborate on treatment and educational goals. Liaise with staff and advocate for students. Attend meetings, prepare reports (IEPs, progress notes, conference summaries), and maintain accurate documentation. Maintain a safe, organized classroom environment.Provide coverage during lunch, recess, field trips, and other activities as needed. Serve on committees as appropriate. Engage families in the educational process and support family-related activities. Qualifications Bachelor's degree with knowledge in reading/ELA. Master's degree in Education or related field preferred.Special Education license required. Experience working with students or in educational settings is highly desirable. Massachusetts Educator Licensure is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet applications, with ability to learn new software.
