Through integration and collaboration, we aim to rebuild a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whānau-centred care, and excellence.About the Role At Burwood Hospital, the Occupational Therapist in Vocational Rehabilitation works with the client, their employer, GP, other treatment providers, and whānau to facilitate a safe and sustainable recovery and return to work. The team meets clients and their employers at Burwood and onsite at their workplace to prepare structured rehabilitation plans aiming for a clear return-to-work date. Vocational Rehabilitation provides work-specific functional programs and monitors the client's rehabilitation journey to achieve optimal outcomes for clients and their employers.The role includes assessing, educating, and providing techniques, strategies, and technology to support employed individuals in returning to or remaining at work. Typically, referrals involve individuals with acute neurological impairments. We are seeking an Occupational Therapist to join our team on a full-time permanent basis.In this role, you will be responsible for: Providing comprehensive assessments, evaluations, and treatments following policies, procedures, and standards of practice for Occupational Therapy Educating and providing resources to clients and their employers regarding the return-to-work and recovery processEnsuring documentation and patient records are accurately maintained and updated Contributing to quality service within the Vocational Rehabilitation team, the Occupational Therapy service, and the broader Burwood site About You Experience working with individuals who have had neurological events is advantageous. The successful applicant will possess excellent interpersonal skills and be effective in working with clients and employers, as well as:Conducting thorough assessments and flexibly integrating interventions using problem-solving and robust communication, guided by the client's goals Being organized with effective time management skills Having competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori, or a commitment to developing these skillsBeing a registered New Zealand Occupational Therapist with a current annual practicing certificate (or the ability to obtain one) Working for Health New Zealand Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for all of Aotearoa/New Zealand.
