Mechanic / Automotive Technician, Christchurch

Working out at the Christchurch Airport , you will be handling repairs and maintenance on our vehicles in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner. You will also make sure a safe working environment is maintained at all times.What you’ll do Servicing vehicles in line with manufacturers’ specifications and company standards, including carrying out minor repairs and preventative maintenance checks on fleet vehicles (e.g. replacing fluids, changing oil/air filter, tyres, brakes, fitting ski racks, etc.) including cars, trucks, and company fleet.Monitor inventory and request the order of new parts from Service Administrator. Assemble mechanical components according to specifications. Perform diagnostic tests to determine functionality problems. Provide assistance to Trade Assistant when required. Complete Repair Orders. Provide breakdown assistance when necessary.Prepare vehicles for hand back and sales. Test and service workshop equipment for safety. Keep accurate and on-time job records and record servicing history in applicable systems. Conduct work in a safe manner, complying with Occupational Safety, Health&Environmental policies, procedures, and being familiar with emergency evacuation procedures to eliminate or minimise workplace health and safety risks, including reporting all accidents, near accidents, and hazards. Adhere to Company Quality Assurance and Uniform Guidelines. Attend company/manufacturer training as necessary.Work efficiently and effectively in a team environment to maintain a culture of service excellence and accomplish organisational goals under limited supervision. Drive vehicles as required. Perform other reasonable duties as requested by the Service Manager. What we’re looking for Full drivers’ license (including manual vehicles).Trade qualification in Motor Mechanics (Level 4 minimum) with previous experience working as a motor mechanic (working experience within the car rental industry would be advantageous). Experience with both petrol and diesel motors. A customer-focused, collaborative, and adaptable approach to work each day.Ability to manage multiple tasks across multiple sites with a high level of attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills. Good communication skills (written and verbal) with knowledge of MS Office– Word, Excel, and Outlook.
