We have an opportunity for a Diesel Mechanic to join our busy depot team based at our Kennaway Road, depot. This is a diverse and challenging role which involves carrying out repairs, services, and maintenance on our heavy machinery such as container handlers, trucks, and other vehicles.Status: Fulltime This is a full-time position with a guaranteed minimum of 40 hours per week. Hours of work are 7.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday and 7.00am to 12.00pm Saturday. Hourly rate will be between $32.00-38.00 depending on qualifications/experience. Location: Kennaway Road, ChristchurchW hat You’ll Do The purpose of this role is to support Depot Management by ensuring the workshop and machinery fleet runs efficiently and effectively on a daily basis to maximise continuity. Complete vehicle/machinery repairs, services and maintenance in a timely and cost efficient and safe manner.Conduct preventative maintenance, servicing and safety checks on all trucking, container handling and plant equipment within the fleet and in accordance with the appropriate schedules. Share knowledge and expertise with Apprentices, hoist and truck drivers on mechanical preventions. Be available to go on 24hr‘on call’ on a rotational basisShare knowledge and expertise with DESL Apprentices and Qube drivers on mechanical preventions. What We Need: Experience with similar heavy machinery and hydraulics to our container handlers. Ability to understand electrical and hydraulic diagrams (or have some understanding of electrics).
