Based in Auckland or Christchurch , this is your opportunity to shape the future of a purpose-driven, clinician-led organisation.About the role We're searching for a commercially-savvy, highly autonomous leader who thrives in a fast-moving, people-focused environment. Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll oversee daily operations, lead a multi-site team, and support two key support office functions — People&Culture and Marketing . This is not a hand-held role— we’re looking for someone confident making decisions, solving problems, and keeping the wheels turning without constant oversight. You’ll have support when you need it, but success in this role means driving performance and making things happen independently.What you’ll be doing Support integration of new acquisition sites Lead the operational integration of newly acquired healthcare practices Align acquired sites with company systems, policies, and service standards Onboard and support incoming Practice Managers and teams Collaborate cross-functionallyto ensure smooth transitions with minimal disruptionMonitor early performance and patient experience at new sites to ensure consistency Lead and grow a high-performing team Manage and mentor Practice Managers across all locations Oversee and support People&Culture and Marketing functions Build capability, accountability, and engagement at every level Maintain a strong presence with regular in-practice visits Champion values-driven leadership, culture and service delivery standards Drive financial and operational performance Own performance metrics across revenue, COGS, and labour costsIdentify and action opportunities to optimise systems and workflows Lead quarterly operational plans and business reviews Collaborate with the finance team to manage budgets and targets Influence EBITDA through smart, hands-on operational leadership Ensure consistency in service standards and patient journeyMonitor and respond to patient NPS feedback Support brand initiatives and in-practice marketing campaigns Align new technologies and services to patient needs Partner with Marketing on community engagement and local activations Contribute to strategic growth Translate group strategy into day-to-day executionDrive innovation and continuous improvement Support special projects and company-wide systems upgrades Provide insight and input at the leadership level What you’ll bring 5+ years in multi-site operational leadership (optometry, healthcare, or retail) A proven ability to work independently, make confident decisions, and drive momentum without close supervisionFinancial and commercial acumen, with experience owning budgets and improving performance Strength in coaching and holding others accountable, especially mid-level managers Clear, calm communicator with excellent judgement and strong emotional intelligence Solid understanding of NZ employment law and comfort handling sensitive people mattersBachelor's degree in business, health management or related field (preferred) What’s in it for you Private health insurance for you, plus insurance discounts for your family CPD/professional development allowance Paid birthday leave and long-service leave recognition Generous staff and family discounts on eyewear and servicesBe mentored directly by the CEO and involved in high-level strategy Join a fast-growing business with a clear purpose and strong values You’re someone who thrives on ownership, loves turning strategy into action, and knows how to get results while working independently.
