Electrician/Business Development Manager (BDM) Insight Electrical is a growing residential and commercial electrical company known for quality workmanship and strong client relationships. We're expanding and looking for someone who's comfortable on the tools and skilled in building business relationships. If you're a hands-on electrician with a knack for spotting opportunities and rapport-building, we want you on our team.Role Overview: This is a hybrid role, with 40% of your time spent working as a qualified electrician and 60% focused on business development. You'll work closely with our owners to ensure high-quality project delivery while helping to drive business growth through client management, networking, quoting, and sales.Key responsibilities: Electrical Work (40%): Perform electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs on residential and commercial projects. Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues on-site. Ensure all work complies with local regulations and safety standards. Manage small projects independently or as part of a team.Train and develop apprentices. Business Development (60%): Identify and pursue new business opportunities in target markets. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, builders, contractors, and suppliers. Attend networking events, site visits, and meetings to promote the business. Prepare quotes, proposals, and tenders for potential projects.Collaborate with the marketing team to develop strategies for business growth. Track leads, opportunities, and client interactions using CRM software. About You: Solid hands-on electrical experience across residential and commercial sectors. HVAC and heat pump experience preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Comfortable with quoting, client meetings, and closing deals. Highly organized with good time management skills. Driven, self-motivated, and confident in representing a business. A passion for both technical work and business growth. Bonus Points for: Prior experience in sales, estimating, or BDM roles.Existing network within the Canterbury building and construction industry. Experience using CRM or quoting software.
