About the role We are seeking an experienced Intermediate or Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Km Mechanical Limited in Christchurch. This full-time role will play a crucial part in the design, development, and delivery of our mechanical engineering projects. What you'll be doing Taking initial client calls, managing projects through scoping, costing, and designConducting technical condition assessments for existing plant and equipment, including pressure vessels, stationary containers, or mechanical structures Preparing fee proposals and cost estimates Writing technical reports, attending client meetings, and providing technical advice Developing new designs for pressure equipment, stationary containers, associated piping, and mechanical structuresProviding technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers Staying up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices What we're looking for A self-motivated and driven individual A practical person with a minimum of 8+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer, preferably in the industrial engineering design environmentA degree in Mechanical Engineering; CPEng is desirable but not required Strong technical skills, including computer-based analysis (e.g., FEA or similar software) and first-principles engineering calculations Strong analytical and practical problem-solving skills Excellent communication and collaboration abilitiesExperience in the Pressure Equipment and Mechanical Structural fields is advantageous but not essential Familiarity with project management principles and tools What we offer At Km Mechanical Limited, we are committed to providing a supportive and inclusive work environment that fosters personal and professional growth.
