We are Steam and Thermal Engineering Specialists, who supply products and expertise to a wide range of industries.We are a knowledge-based company that has 55 training centres around the world with a focus on developing our people through extensive internal and external training courses.We are seeking a dynamic and motivated individual ready to use their Engineering or Trades qualifications they have gained to further their career at Spirax Sarco by joining our Steam Business Sales Team. Emphasis will be to achieve strong results and deliver on the Company’s growth strategy. This role will be based in South Island, New Zealand, with travel required to relevant customer bases. Where the candidate is based from is flexible anywhere in South Island.Roles and Responsibilities Sales&Business Development Promote Spirax Sarco’s product range to new and existing clients across focused industries through Customer Value Propositions (CVPs) . Identify new business opportunities and actively pursue new clients through targeted sales initiatives. Develop and implement business strategies for your territory, including KeyAccount Management (KAM), Strategic Account Management (SAM), and industry-focused plans.Maintain existing client relationships through regular site visits, proactive engagement, and consultative sales practices. Walk customer plants, analyse their steam systems, and align solutions with their manufacturing requirements. Negotiate and close sales deals within approved authority levels, ensuring alignment with company strategy and ethical standards.Track and manage sales activities through the CRM database, including competitor analysis and reporting. Technical Expertise&Solutions Understand customer specifications for manufacturing processes, including materials, equipment, piping, material flows, system capacities, and plant layouts. Select, size, specify, and quote Spirax Sarco product ranges for steam system improvements, upgrades, and new projects. Conduct Steam System Audits from site assessments to report and quotation generation, ensuring customer needs are met.Provide technical consultation on system optimization, troubleshooting, and efficiency improvements. Work closely with internal teams to ensure smooth project execution, from sales to commissioning and after-sales support. Customer&Project Management Develop a sales plan for your customer base with clear KPIs, aligning with company goals. Assist with Inside Sales when required, including quotations, surveys, and CRM database updates. Follow up on quotations and maintain a quote log to meet forecasting requirements and secure sales orders.Drive customer re-engagement by securing follow-up audits and implementing continuous improvement plans. Prepare and present customer training sessions and represent the company at industry events. Compliance&Operational Requirement Ensure compliance with JSA and SWM for all site activities. Maintain accurate FSR for service, repair, or product returns. Take responsibility for tools, equipment, and company assets, ensuring proper care and maintenance. Be available for business travel (5-8 days per month) and occasional overnight stays as required.Education&Certifications Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Aeronautical, or a related discipline). Training in Occupational Health&Safety, project management, or sales-related disciplines is advantageous. Experience 2+ years of experience in a technical sales, business development, or engineering role. Experience in the energy, renewable, or industrial engineering sector (e.g., solar, steam, water treatment, HVAC, or civil infrastructure).Proven ability to generate leads, engage customers, and provide technical solutions tailored to client needs. Strong background in project coordination, stakeholder management, and technical consulting. Previous hands-on engineering experience (e.g., quality control, site supervision, system design) is a plus.Strong technical acumen with the ability to understand and explain engineering concepts to customers. Experience in conducting site assessments, preparing proposals, and providing technical solutions. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with experience in liaising between internal teams and external stakeholders.Ability to manage projects, including coordinating between suppliers, customers, and internal teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM, ERP, AutoCAD, and other relevant engineering or sales tools. Self-motivated with a results-driven approach to achieving sales targets and business growth.The ability to develop targets and goals and then deliver them, demonstrated by your past successes.
