Deaf Society of Canterbury Inc. is a registered charity and Incorporated Society. DSC provides clubroom facilities and a community centre for the Deaf community. We help to promote and strengthen NZ Sign Language and Deaf culture. We support Deaf sports and leisure groups in Canterbury and aim to improve the well-being of Deaf members and the wider Deaf community.We are seeking a trustworthy, capable, and flexible person to join our small team. This is a permanent part-time position, 15 hours a week. The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role within a community or non-profit organisation. The candidate should be able to balance and juggle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and have a sharp eye for detail.Effective communication skills with all personalities and cultures within the organisation are essential. Maintaining a positive attitude in a demanding environment is important. Willingness to be a team player. Experience in Xero and Payroll. Knowledge of grant applications. Ad-hoc duties as required.Flexibility with hours. A willingness to learn New Zealand Sign Language. About the role: The role reports to the Club Manager and involves supporting the financial stability and growth of the society by providing up-to-date, accurate financial reports to the Board of Management using Xero.
