Job Description About the role Please note this role can be located in Christchurch or Auckland. Bluecurrent is a leading provider of innovative smart metering services and solutions in New Zealand and Australia. As a B2B company, we partner with leading energy retailers and distributors in New Zealand and Australia.Are you an experienced Engineer specialising in electrical and electronic hardware technology and sustainability? We have an exciting newly created opportunity for a Lead Technology Engineer to identify, evaluate and prioritise technology enhancements as Bluecurrent looks to meet its strategic aspirations of unlocking a sustainable future.In this role, you will take ownership of the Electronic and Hardware Technology roadmaps for Bluecurrent that support the strategic roadmaps for the product teams and asset management plans. Key responsibilities include: Engagement of needs with the various stakeholders and customers Co-ordinate prioritisation of the items on the roadmap for evaluation with various key stakeholdersMarket scanning and hardware evaluation to help support the technology roadmap Developing evaluation tools to support reviewing of various technology solutions Undertake assessments to support new product introductions Provide technical support and advise to the business on metering hardware and technology introductionEvaluate performance and support the Asset team to update asset management plans for new equipment People resource planning ensuring optimum use of resources is achieved to produce the highest quality customer outcome. Create a culture for the team to engage and grow focusing on continuous improvement to improve quality for customers.Key operational management of third-party metering technology providers related to innovation and development. Who we are looking for To be successful in this role, you will ideally have 5+ years experience in the utilities industry and hold an Electrical or Electronic Engineering Degree or similar qualification. You will have proven experience driving and facilitating project outcomes and delivering change. Experience working within distribution networks, metering hardware or sustainable energy solutions would be an advantage.Additionally, you will bring previous leadership experience, strong motivation for problem-solving, and a continuous improvement mindset. Organisational skills are essential, particularly in planning the team’s work. Excellent verbal and written communication, relationship-building, and influencing skills are required, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels and with all stakeholders.About Us Bluecurrent is jointly owned by Vector and QIC.
