Through integration and collaboration, we are committed to rebuilding a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whānau-centred care, and excellence.About the Role The Rural Adult Community Psychiatric Service has a vacancy for a registered nurse with mental health experience to join their community team on a part-time permanent basis. The Rural team provides assessment and treatment services for tāngata whaiora (consumers) experiencing mental illnesses and works closely with their whānau (family), both in the community and alongside inpatient services. It is a sought-after position due to the rural nature of the work.The Rural team covers an area between the Clarence River (Kaikoura) to the north and the Rakaia River in the south. You will be embedded in a supportive multi-disciplinary team based at Fergusson Building at Hillmorton Hospital. The position involves travel using a Te Whatu Ora vehicle. About YouWe are looking for a professional and highly motivated nurse to join our team. To be successful, you will need to display a positive attitude and enthusiasm for this area of work. You should enjoy being part of a diverse, committed multi-disciplinary team, working collaboratively with professionals who value providing quality care to patients, friends, and whānau. The role involves liaising with GPs, medical centers, and NGOs, and managing a caseload effectively.You will work within a multi-disciplinary team, collaborating with tāngata whaiora and their whānau, primary care, community supports, and inpatient teams. Ability to think quickly, triage, and prioritize tāngata whaiora's needs appropriately and timely is essential. You will case manage a caseload of tāngata whaiora, proactively engaging and supporting them in their treatment and holistic supports.Highly developed risk assessment skills and the ability to develop effective rapport with individuals who may be mentally unwell or distressed are important. Responsibilities include assessment, developing treatment plans, and liaising with whānau, carers, NGOs, police, probation, and other services.You should be a respectful, caring team player with conflict resolution skills.
