Manager - Timaru Information Centre Ngai Tahu Māori Rock Art Trust Timaru, Canterbury Fixed term 12 months (maternity cover) - May 2025 to May 2026 30 hours per week We are seeking a manager for the Timaru Information Centre on a 12-month fixed termcontract, covering maternity leave. The role involves managing a small team; basic financial management; proactively securing new commissionable products and brochure display contracts; managing retail merchandise; collating and collating visitor survey results; and quarterly reporting to the NgāiTahu Māori Rock Art Trust board and Venture Timaru. It also involves a rostered share of front desk customer service and sales.The successful applicant will have experience in staff management (recruitment, training, performance management), and in basic financial management (working to a fixed budget; reconciling payments to sales; calculating commissions from sales via POS). A high level of computer literacy is needed, as the Information Cantre uses a range of third-party booking systems, alongside a POS system to collate statistics and generate sales reports.A proven track record in customer service and sales is required, preferably in the tourism sector. Providing information to visitors is an integral part of the role, so an outgoing, friendly personality and excellent people skills are essential, with knowledge of the Timaru District an advantage.This role is 30 hours per week across the opening hours of the Timaru Information Centre: 5 days per week, Tuesday to Saturday. This includes some weekend days and public holidays, as required, with extended hours on days that cruise ships visit Timaru (November to March). The Role Requires The Following CompetenciesPrior experience leading and managing staff and creating a positive and supportive team environment; excellent people and relationship skills Prior experience in basic financial management: working within a set budget: reconciling sales and payments; generating sales reports and calculating commissions via POS.A proven track record in customer service and sales, preferably in the tourism sector, with a knowledge of the Timaru district and advantage A high level of computer literacy, able to learn new systems quickly; with a commitment to accuracy and attention to detail Excellent time management skills, able to meet deadlinesExcellent written communication skills for the provision of quarterly reports Positive, self-motivated and enthusiastic Key tasks Personnel management: Recruitment, training, performance management, and rostering of a small team Financial management: Working within a set budget; checking accounts payable and receivable; reconciling payments with sales via POS; generating sales reports and calculating commissions via POS and verifying through third-party booking systemsIncreasing commissionable sales: Identifying and securing new commissionable products (activities, accommodation, transport) and brochure display contracts, managing contracts including monthly reconciliation of sales and calculation of commission Retail sales: Identifying appropriate product lines; analysing sales; managing stock levels; completing quarterly stock takeCustomer service: Promoting local activities, accommodation, amenities and transport options; efficiently and accurately completing bookings via a range of third-party systems; cash handling; collecting visitor survey data Visitor survey: Collecting, collating and interpreting visitor survey dataReporting: Completing quarterly reports to the Ngāi Tahu Māori Rock Art Trust board (financial, staffing, issues arising) and to Venture Timaru (financial, collation and interpretation of visitor survey data) Applications close Friday 23rd May 2025 Please email your cover letter and CV to further questions about the role contact Patricia Jenney on 03 6884452 #J-18808-Ljbffr
