We have created a new Developer Relations team to engage directly with open source communities and developer-centric organizations. Our goal is to communicate our vision and products for better open source development experiences and to gather feedback to shape our offerings and priorities.Role: Developer Relations Engineer A Developer Relations Engineer is a technical expert, strategist, and communicator with deep empathy for developers. This role combines practical engineering skills with diplomacy across organizational boundaries. The ideal candidate is curious, a problem-solver, and loves adapting tools to meet people's needs. Staying current with tech trends and providing insights while fostering innovation are key aspects of this role.Location : We are building our initial DevRel team across Europe, Middle East, Africa, and the Americas. Typical Daily Activities : Participate in team product meetings, contributing insights from strategy to daily development. Engage with developer communities via IRC, social media, forums, meetups, and more.Collaborate with other teams to establish consistent approaches. Assist in resolving technical issues faced by users or colleagues. Contribute to technical documentation to meet developer needs. Create technical articles, presentations, or workshops. Identify new opportunities to improve the developer experience.Present at conferences, meetups, or technical events. Desired Candidate Profile Experienced programmer or developer passionate about open source. Hands-on experience developing and deploying software on Linux. Practical knowledge of Linux software packaging (Snaps, debs, charms, rocks, PIP, containers).Understanding of current Linux packaging challenges and trends. Active contributor to open-source communities and documentation. Excellent speaker and presenter. Effective at working tactfully and empathetically with diverse stakeholders. Ability to build trust and relationships. Willing to travel globally twice a year for company and partner events.Additional Skills (Optional) Experience in developer advocacy or community roles. Familiarity with Ubuntu and Canonical products.
