Terra MDC is a small geotechnical and civils engineering consultancy. We are fully involved from project concept through to sign off upon the successful completion of many geotechnical and civils works for residential, commercial and industrial site developments. We also undertake work in the rural sector on farm development and irrigation storage dams including the full project management, programming, procurement and supervision of the works.Based in Dunedin, most of our work is typically in the lower eastern and central part of the South Island. We are expanding and are currently looking for a BE Civil/Geotech or Engineering Geology with 8+ years of experience to join our small but busy office. Looking to achieve or hold NZ Eng chartered engineer / dams recognised engineer status is also of great interest, this will be supported if not already achieved.Key Responsibilities Desk studies and report writing including sourcing info from NZGD / Archive NZ / GNS / Otago Uni– Geology / local®ional councils and other sources. Planning through a wide variety of shallow and deep investigation works, including logging the soils and rock and then preparing factual and technical interpretative reports. Monitoring ground investigations and site inspections for construction works, plus the prerequisite of programming and liaison for our input into larger project works.Concept through to detailed civil and geotechnical engineering designs and specifications. Liaising with clients, consultants, contractors and other parties on project scope development and related activities as the project progresses. Other technical, administrative and contract documentation duties.Strong report writing, communication and technical capabilities are essential along with being skilled in operating various relevant software packages and minor structures design software. Experience in analysis and interpretation of hand and software generated calculation results taking this through into developing reports and designs– projects include zoned fill dams, deep piling, ground improvement, earthworks, soils and rock slope stability, land hazard risk assessments, roading and foundation design. Opportunities for further career advancement notably in hydrogeological and hydrological analysis for dams safety engineering exist for a person who is keen and software savvy.You will have a valid New Zealand car drivers licence, with off-road experience preferred. You will have the legal right to work in New Zealand with NZ and/or overseas Washington Accord tertiary qualifications with at least 3 years of NZ experience.
