The Opportunity Reporting directly to the Chief Executive,the General Manager Arts, Culture, and Recreation leads the teams that bringour city’s cultural and recreational spaces to life, including the DunedinPublic Libraries, Dunedin Public Art Gallery, Toitū Otago Settlers Museum, LanYuan Chinese Garden, and Parks and Recreation.Working in partnership with the ChiefExecutive and Executive Leadership Team, this role provides advice to ElectedRepresentatives and champions the Council’s commitment to growing the community'seconomic, social, cultural, and environmental well-being. Key responsibilities will include: Strategic Leadership: Developing and executing long-term strategies thatalign with Ōtepoti Dunedin’s vision of being one of the world’s greatsmall cities.Operational Excellence: Leading the delivery of efficient, high-valueservices that meet the needs of ratepayers. Building Partnerships: Fostering strong collaboration with public,private, and community organisations, including mana whenua, to supportcultural and recreational initiatives. Leadership: Building strong teams that deliver great experiencesat the DCC’s cultural and recreational facilities.PositionObjectives To promote and contribute to the development of theCouncil's strategy. Actively participate in the Executive LeadershipTeam of the Council. To lead and develop a vision, strategy, and aneffective operational/business plan for the Arts, Culture, and Recreationportfolio. Drive the business strategy for the portfolio,meeting and exceeding business outcomes and targets.About You You are a visionary leader with proven experience managingcomplex business portfolios, ideally with a cultural or community focus. Youwill have a strategic mindset and be able to align operational decisions with thelong-term goals of the DCC. Maintaining effective relationships with allstakeholders will be second nature to you. Demonstrated success in developingeffective team culture, ensuring professional outcomes and accountability forall stakeholders.You will have a strong commitment to the Treaty of Waitangiprinciples and demonstrated experience ensuring employee health, safety, and well-being.
