Training and Development Manager - 2500214 __________ Te Whare Tāwharau is the University of Otago’s dedicated sexual violence and intimate partner violence education support and prevention centre. Our small, close-knit team works collaboratively to address sexual violence and intimate partner violence issues across campus, combining compassion and professionalism to meet the diverse needs of those accessing our services. We provide comprehensive support to survivors, including advocacy and assistance tailored to individual circumstances.Our Peer Support Volunteer training programme empowers students to provide empathetic, informed peer support. In addition, we offer a variety of prevention and education programmes to staff and students, fostering a campus culture of respect and safety. To maintain and enhance the quality of our services, we evaluate our initiatives, to ensure our practices are evidence-based and contribute to broader advancements in prevention and response strategies beyond our university community.The role/Te mahi As Manager, Training and Development, you will oversee prevention and education programmes, enhance the Peer Support Volunteer Programme, support survivors of sexual violence and intimate partner violence, and lead recruitment, onboarding, and training for facilitators and volunteers.Other key responsibilities include: Providing education and training for students and staff on handling sexual violence and intimate partner violence disclosures, sexual consent, and bystander programs. Supporting the development of prevention, education, and Volunteer Training programmes with the Te Whare Tāwharau team.Supporting survivors in navigating university systems and accessing assistance networks. Our ideal candidate is a compassionate, pragmatic leader with exceptional emotional intelligence. Calm under pressure, you balance strategic vision with daily demands, fostering trust and resilience within the team.As an adaptable and innovative communicator, you drive continuous improvement while ensuring stakeholders feel valued and heard. We are seeking someone with at least a degree-level qualification in social service, public health, law, education, or a related field with in-depth expertise in sexual and intimate partner violence.You are skilled in developing and delivering prevention, education, and awareness programmes, with expertise in best practices for driving change. Other skills needed are: Advanced communication and relationship-building skills with staff and stakeholders. Proficiency in managing risk, driving continuous improvement, and fostering a culture of empowerment.Expertise in trauma-aware, culturally responsive, and healing-informed practices. Strong decision-making and policy development skills. High competency with technology and database systems. Experience in facilitation, training, and professional development. Experience in providing leadership to volunteers.Demonstrated ability to relate to a wide range of people, particularly young adults and students. Knowledge of external agencies that provide support to people impacted by sexual violence or intimate partner violence. This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week), permanent role, located inŌtepoti, Dunedin.The appointment range for this role is $78,018 to $87,619. Top of the range is $97,368 per annum. You must have the right to live and work in New Zealand to apply for these positions.
