He angitūtanga | About the role This role will have a focus on delivering outcomes for the district's work with Contact Energy Ltd, and working with key stakeholders and landowners form s a major part of this.The role has a split of office-based and field work which include tasks such as: Fish habitat restoration and riparian Landowner liaison. Volunteer coordination and supervision. Contractor supervision Collating and purchasing required plants for planned projects. Monitoring and maintenance of current sitesProviding input and/or producing reports for key stakeholders. Weed control with motorised and non-motorised equipment. This is a hands-on specialist position managing an annually agreed program with a major partner. The focus is on the lower Clutha River freshwater species and fish habitat enhancement work. This will require periods of time away from home to lead fieldwork– in often challenging environments.Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience The successful applicant will have the ability to work with others and deliver conservation benefits for fish habitat restoration and enhancement. If you have some of following, we are keen to hear from you: Knowledge of indigenous fish biology, fish habitats and freshwater conservation issuesComfortable using spreadsheets and databases for reporting Strong organisational and planning skills Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work with a range of stakeholders and build strong relationships Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong health and safety focus Good level of physical fitness with backcountry experienceCurrent full driver's license and four-wheel drive competence Desirable: Experience with freshwater conservation in Otago Experience or knowledge with electrofishing Familiar with weed work/ Growsafe certificate A current First Aid certificate. Mō te tīma | About the team The Coastal Otago Operations team is based in Dunedin and forms part of the Southern South Island Region. It consists of 21 permanent staff and is led by the Operations Manager. Prioritising and scheduling work is co-ordinated by three Supervisors and four Senior Rangers. The Operations team seeks to strengthen our Treaty relationship by working in true partnership with Ngāi Tahu, as we collaborate with others to protect biodiversity, enhance recreational opportunities and grow the community's appreciation of and involvement in conservation.Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou | What's in it for you?
