Our growing business requires organised and trustworthy individuals who pride themselves on quality workmanship. You must be motivated and result driven.You might be asked to work across the country to assist with our projects, so flexibility on work locations is preferred. The Carpenter and Joiner is responsible for: Shaping or cutting materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws. Following established safety rules and regulations and maintaining a safe and clean environment.Measuring and marking cutting lines on materials, using a ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge. Installing structures or fixtures, such as windows, frames, flooring, trim, or hardware, using carpenters' hand or power tools. Verifying the trueness of structures, using plumb bob and level. Building or repairing cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, carpenter's hand tools, or power tools.Selecting and ordering lumber or other required materials. Assembling and fastening materials to make frameworks or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue. Removing damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repairing or replacing them, using hand tools.Maintaining records, documenting actions, and presenting written progress reports. Inspecting ceiling or floor tile, wall coverings, siding, glass, or woodwork to detect broken or damaged structures. Erecting scaffolding or ladders for assembling structures above ground level. Finishing surfaces of woodwork or wallboard in houses or buildings, using paint, hand tools, or paneling.Studying drawings and creating forming shutters for concrete work. Creating structures, forms, or chutes for pouring concrete for large jobs. Arranging for subcontractors to handle special areas, such as heating or electrical wiring work. Covering subfloors with building paper to prevent moisture and laying hardwood, parquet, or wood-strip floors by nailing or cementing.Filling cracks or defects in plaster or plasterboard, then sanding the patch. Applying shock-absorbing, sound-deadening, or decorative paneling to ceilings or walls. Preparing cost estimates for clients or employers. Working with or removing hazardous materials. Performing minor plumbing, welding, or concrete mixing work.All other duties as assigned. Pay conditions: Min $27.00 per hour to a maximum of $33.00 per hour Hours of work: Minimum 30 hours of work guaranteed Skills and experience required: 2+ years relevant experience in carpentry OR relevant qualification (preferred but not essential) Friendly, with good time management and excellent work ethicA commitment to learning and developing skills within the industry Sound knowledge of H&S procedures Reliable and hardworking Location: You may be required to work in Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Hawke's Bay, Taranaki, Gisborne, Wellington, Nelson-Tasman, Canterbury, Southland, Northland, with occasional travel to Otago, West Coast, Whanganui-Manawatu, and Marlborough.
