We are a leading social work practice that is child-centred, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive.Mō te tūnga | About the role: We have a permanent full-time opportunity for a passionate SWRB-registered Social Worker to join our Caregiver Recruitment and Support team in Gisborne. Caregivers play a crucial role in the lives of tamariki who cannot live safely at home. As a Caregiver Social Worker, you will work closely with caregivers to help them understand their role at each stage of a child's journey through care. Your strong relationship management skills and commitment to providing tailored support will ensure caregivers are well-equipped with the resources, skills, and information needed to provide nurturing, safe, and stable homes for tamariki. You will build relationships with and support whānau and non-whānau caregivers, emergency and respite caregivers, and long-term caregivers.The role is varied and deeply rewarding, offering the chance to deliver tangible benefits to your community. You will collaborate with the child's Social Worker to identify underlying issues and develop creative, tailored strategies that facilitate positive outcomes for tamariki. When needed, you will also liaise with other agencies, community groups, and providers to meet caregivers' needs.To be considered, you must: Hold a recognised Social Work qualification by the Social Worker Registration Board (SWRB) Have full registration with SWRB and a current Annual Practicing Certificate or be able to gain registration Demonstrate resilience, critical thinking, and problem-solving skillsUphold the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and demonstrate this in practice Have a good understanding of section 7(AA) of The Oranga Tamariki Act Be passionate about supporting caregivers and enabling their success Possess excellent relationship management skills Have well-developed written and verbal communication skillsHold a valid, clean New Zealand driver’s license Nōu te rourou | What's in it for you: Oranga Tamariki offers an attractive remuneration package ranging from $81,206 to $97,557, depending on experience, with annual progression.
