Four extra leave days each year to celebrate Matariki and Christmas, plus sports/cultural leave Free car parking at main campuses.Mō tēnei mahi | About this job We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Kaiako to join our whānau at Te Rau Ōriwa Puna Reo where learning is grounded whakapapa, whanaungatanga and aroha. This is a fixed-term, part-time (25 hours per week) position based in Gisborne , that starts in May 2025 and ends in December 2025.Our Puna Reo is more than an early learning centre– it’s a nurturing, kaupapa Māori community where tamariki thrive. You’ll lead learning aligned with Te Whāriki , weaving in marau Māori and experiences that reflect our values. You’ll document progress, foster strong whānau relationships, and work with a dedicated team to support tamariki development.You will be fluent in te reo Māori, passionate about tamariki, and confident working in a kaupapa Māori setting. You will also have: Bachelor of Teaching (ECE/Primary) or Level 7 Diploma in Teaching (ECE) Current Teacher Council Practising Certificate Demonstrated experience working with and caring for tamarikiAt least 3 years’ teaching experience in a full immersion or te reo Māori environment Confident and fluent in both spoken and written te reo Māori Physical capability for an active early learning environment This is a Core Worker role under the Children’s Act 2014, requiring a safety check.A strong understanding of tikanga Māori and a willingness to participate in cultural activities are essential.
