Food Verifier / Environmental Health Officer - Environmental Health Add expected salary to your profile for insights. As a Food Verifier / Environmental Health Officer, you'll ensure compliance with the Food Act 2014, Health Act 1956, local bylaws, the Resource Management Act 1991, and the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012. Your duties will include:Planning and executing verifications within required timeframes. Overseeing compliance and educating the Tairāwhiti community on food and health regulations. This role reports to the Team Leader Environmental Health and works within a team of seven. You’ll recognize the importance of Treaty partnership and understand its significance in Gisborne District Council’s work.Key responsibilities include: Conducting food verifications, evaluations, and reporting for food operators. Conducting health inspections, evaluations, and reporting for operators registered under the Health Act. Educating the community on food and health matters. Supporting enforcement efforts and collaborating with the Chief FV/EHO to meet Council obligations.Maintaining confidentiality and privacy in accordance with the Privacy Act and Council Policy. Monitoring licensed premises for alcohol regulation compliance. Qualifications and experience required: Current Recognised Person status and approval as a verifier of Food Control Plans and National Programmes, or the ability to obtain this status.Suitability to hold an Environmental Health Officer warrant, including a Ministry of Justice check. Experience in technical assessments and report writing tailored to various audiences. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
