We're looking for a Manager to lead the planning, development, and management of parks, cemeteries, township amenities, and community assets across Tairāwhiti.Strong people leadership skills are our top priority. This role offers a chance to drive change, enhance community pride, and deliver exceptional spaces for our community and visitors—someone who can truly make our parks shine!You’ll play a key role in strengthening Gisborne District Council’s commitment as a Treaty partner, ensuring mātauranga Māori and tangata whenua values are embedded in our planning and service delivery. Key Responsibilities Champion and implement strategies such as the Community Facilities Strategy, Reserve Management Plans, and MasterplansLead asset and business planning with a future-focused approach Prepare clear reports for the Director of Liveable Communities and stakeholders Foster a supportive team culture where everyone feels valued and purposeful Engage meaningfully with mana whenua, weaving Te Ao Māori into planning and use of public spacesNetwork with external organizations involved in parks, reserves, and asset management Qualifications&Experience Proven leadership and people management experience Strong background in strategic planning, asset management, and community engagement A tertiary qualification in parks&recreation, urban development, business leadership, or similar Understanding of tikanga Māori, Te Ao Māori, and commitment to building relationships with tangata whenua Experience applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi (desirable) Additional Benefits&Details Flexible start and finish times; hybrid working (home and office) Relocation assistance Ora Day leave (birthday or significant days) Piritahi Day (time with whānau&friends) Waiata group and Te Reo classes Staff discounts, training budget, social events Health insurance discounts, wellness initiatives, health checks Location: walking distance to CBD, modern office space, free eye exams Our Values and Culture At Gisborne District Council, our values are rooted in the community.
