The Surgical department offers supportive working conditions and is committed to excellent teaching. There will be daily opportunities for learning, as Registrars work closely with direct daily supervision from their assigned General Surgeon Consultant/Senior Medical Officer on day shifts, which include Operating Theatre, Day of Surgery, Pre-admit clinic, Inpatient Ward, and Outpatient settings.Gisborne Hospital, a 110-bed acute care hospital serving a wide geographical area, Tairāwhiti, extending up the East Cape of New Zealand, offers enormous scope and variety in work for an enthusiastic registrar. Providing healthcare to a population of 54,000, Health NZ Te Whatu Ora Tairāwhiti is well supported locally by comprehensive surgical services and has a full range of diagnostic facilities on site, including a new MRI scanner and CT scanner.
