Our ED provides supportive working conditions and excellent teaching. The Gisborne ED team comprises FACEM or vocationally registered emergency specialists working alongside urgent care doctors. They manage approximately 25,000 patients annually, with a 25% admission rate, including high acuity cases, trauma, and paediatrics. Our specialists are experienced in teaching and support our registrars, offering ample procedural opportunities. Our community and team are diverse and welcoming.Gisborne Hospital, a 110-bed acute care facility, serves a broad geographical area, extending up the East Cape. It provides healthcare to about 54,000 people, supported by comprehensive surgical services and on-site diagnostic facilities, including a new MRI and CT scanner. We maintain strong links with the Waikato tertiary referral centre.Located on New Zealand's North Island east coast, Gisborne (Tairāwhiti) is renowned as the first city to see the sunrise of each new day.
