This role requires strong subject matter expertise, writing and relationship skills, project leadership, and the ability to manage a mix of short- and long-term projects within the Planning, Policy and Performance team.Responsibilities include analyzing significant policy developments impacting public health, preparing policy papers, horizon scanning for emerging issues, and identifying opportunities relevant to the Public Health Service within the region. You will support complex, demanding projects, providing planning and project management support to the team and managers, with opportunities to lead your own projects.About the Team/Service/Location The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, aims for Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by addressing the wider determinants of health, focusing on wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level interventions. We operate across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered, and locally tailored.About You You demonstrate an understanding of organizational risk, compliance, legal, and regulatory requirements relevant to New Zealand, ensuring adherence. You possess mature communication and interpersonal skills, including effective writing and presentation abilities, and can develop and maintain strong internal and external relationships to achieve sustainable outcomes.Skills and Experience A relevant graduate and postgraduate qualification 5+ years of relevant experience in health, public sector, or local government planning and/or policy Experience in an advisory role, applying critical thinking and sound judgment to develop options and provide advice Some leadership experience, including designing and managing projects and resourcesExperience working in partnership with Māori and/or Pacific communities Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly assimilate information and communicate complex issues clearly to diverse audiences Valid NZ Drivers' Licence Working for Health New Zealand Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to providing excellenthealthcare for all New Zealanders.
